Chapter 8 · 8.1
Working on a document at the same time
Watch it in a short video
With Euro-Office in your WebOké Nextcloud, you and your colleagues can work in the same document at the same time. You see live what the other person is typing. No more emailing versions back and forth and no more "who has the latest version?": there's just one document, safely stored in your own WebOké Cloud.

How to work together in one document
- Share the document with your colleague and give them editing rights. You can read how to do this in Sharing a document with a colleague.
- Open the document. Your colleague opens the same document from their own Nextcloud. A shared file appears for the recipient in All files and under Shares.
- Just start working. Whatever your colleague types appears on your screen. Your colleague's cursor gets its own colour, along with their name.
Who's working with you?
If someone else is in the document, you'll see a button with people icons and the number of people (1) at the top right of the editor. Click it: under Users who are editing the file you'll see the names of everyone who has the document open.

Saving
You don't need to save anything: in the default Fast mode, all changes are saved automatically. Would you rather decide for yourself when the other person sees your changes? Then choose Strict mode, see Fast or Strict: the two co-editing modes.
Tip: collaborating works the same way in spreadsheets and presentations. In a spreadsheet, you can also see which cell a colleague has selected.
Please note: if your colleague doesn't have editing rights, the document will only open for reading. You can adjust the rights in the file's sharing sidebar.
To discuss things while you work, use comments (Commenting and mentioning someone) or the chat (Chatting in the document).
