Using your own nameservers (DNS) for your domain
Do you want to run the DNS of your domain yourself, or have it managed by another party such as Cloudflare? Then you set different nameservers for your domain. You don't need a separate package for that. Only do this if you know how DNS works.
- When ordering: in the window where you set up your domain, click Change next to Nameservers and enter your own nameservers. You need at least two; we check them before saving them.
- Later: go to My WebOké to My Domains, click on the domain and on the Nameservers card click Change nameservers. You can fill in ns1 through ns5.
- Nameservers on your own domain, such as ns1.yourdomain.com? Then first create those with Register your own nameserver on the same domain page (a so-called glue record).
Note: with different nameservers, the DNS management in My WebOké and DirectAdmin no longer has any effect on your domain. So set up the zone on your own nameservers before switching, with the records for your website and email (such as A and MX), otherwise they will temporarily stop working.
Detailed explanation with screenshots: Edit nameservers in the WebOké manual and DNS in My WebOké and with external name servers such as Cloudflare in the DirectAdmin manual.
